Film interiors by James Radin

In his more than 30 years of professional experience, has had the good fortune to have worked for both leading designers and amazing clients. One of the best America’s interior designers has been an inspiration not only in a real life, but also in the movie industry.

James began his career on the commercial end of the business in San Francisco at Gensler working alongside of Orlando Diaz-Azcuy. He then moved to New York after accepting a position with Swanke Hayden Connell Architects. After several years with the firm, James switched his design focus to residential and began working with Angelo Donghia and later at the office of Thierry Despont.

Moving back to Los Angeles , James opened his own firm and continues to focus primarily on residential work. While here he has also had the opportunity to design several film sets including the blockbuster hits Something’s Gotta Give, The Holiday and It’s Complicated.

The Holiday: Movie’s director, Nancy Meyers, engaged James Radin, her own personal interior designer, to assist with the design of this film interiors. In the first picture we can see a small, cozy and charming cottage that belonged to one of the main characters, Iris.

The Holiday: Another room from Nancy Meyer’s movie. It is the living room from the Amanda’s apartment. More contemporary than Radin’s typical work, it shares elements with his more typical designs.

Something’s Gotta Give: Beautiful and elegant dining room. The whole space is mantaing in the neutral colors that make it more open and optically larger.

It’s Complicated: Another living room. It also seems very realistic, comfortable and cozy. The main colors used for the decoration elements in this room differ from the other living room above, and give warmer and more cozy impression.

It’s Complicated: It is another Nancy Meyer’s movie when she engaged James Radin to help with the interiors design. In the picture, we can see the kitchen where amazing actress, Meryl Streep, was cooking.
