GoHome.com.hk, Hong Kong’s No. 1 online property platform, has announced the winners of its “GoHome Interior Design Awards” the 21st of May. The gold sponsor for this year’s award is BoConcept, a world-class interior design company with an established flagship store in Hong Kong. In addition, leading appliances brand, Phillips & Future Lighting are this year’s award category sponsor. Renowned architect and artist, Mr. William Lim, was invited to be the officiating guest of the award presentation ceremony.
This is the second time the “GoHome Interior Design Awards” have been held to recognise, reward and celebrate design excellence across the industry. The contenders this year are among the best and brightest of the industry. They have broken boundaries and created new interior design trends distinguished by their creativity, imagination and style. Finalists were selected via an online public voting site, and winners were judged based on the following criteria: Originality, Innovation, Functionality, Space Planning, Aesthetics and Special Features.
According to the report by Euromonitor International Ltd, the customer value spent on private residential interior design services in Hong Kong recorded a total of HK$ 2.7 billion in 2014, an increase of 26% compared to the total of HK$ 2.1 billion in 2013. Furthermore, new property developments have spent a total of HK$1.2 billion in 2014 on the interior design of show flats, an increase of 1.2 times compared to the total of HK$525 million in 2011. Referring to the data from Rating and Valuation Department, the completions of private domestic housing totaled a record-breaking amount of 15,700 units in 2014, the highest record of private completions since 2006. It is expected that the demand for interior design services in Hong Kong will continue to increase as the government continues to actively boost the housing supply in the city.
Hong Kong has become a regional leader in developing the design industry and continues to serve as a rich source of innovative products and design talents across the region. The interior design market in Hong Kong is no longer confined to the Pearl River Delta, but the entire China. This in turn creates greater opportunities for local interior design companies to expand their businesses into the vast mainland and share their ideas, knowledge, and resources on home design limitlessly.
