was founded in 2000 by Nynke Tynagel and Job Smeets, both graduates of the renowned Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Having met in 1996 in Eindhoven, Nynke began her studies in graphic design, while Job had just graduated in 3D design.
Nynke and Job live and work together. They redefine the applied arts for the contemporary age. Their collaboration has created highly expressive, mainly one-off or limited edition works, from the outset.
Opulent, intricate and ironic, Studio Job combine an extraordinarily high level of craftsmanship with extreme ornamentation. They reference both the traditional and the topical, the organic and the artificial. Employing iconographic, pan-historic imagery, which can be in the same moment both heraldic as well as cartoon-like, the results are consistently monumental and yet somehow primitive, and generally read neo-baroque, clearly fantasist, and certainly more mannerist than modernist.

Their work often projects a strong narrative quality, with often suggests a heroic battle between good and evil, and their gorgeous collections seem to emerge from a medieval, guild-like process with an industrial approach.
Although their work is geared towards collectors and museums by definition, has collaborated successfully with various like-minded industrial manufactures, including Swarovski in Austria, and Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum and Moooi in the Netherlands.
Their work has been shown internationally in numerous museums, including New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Dutch Textile Museum in Tilburg; along with exhibiting at Carpenters Workshop Gallery.
